Terms and Conditions

Research
When you commission us to undertake research, you will receive where applicable:

  • bound report and relevant research material
  • advice on any further research required
  • invoice

Where possible, work will be completed within 6 weeks of the agreed start date. For larger projects, a feasible research framework will be negotiated in advance, and a report will be submitted within a week of the end of the agreed research period. To commission research, we require a written confirmation that you adhere to our terms and conditions, accompanied by a contact address, landline phone number, and if possible an email address, so that we can keep you informed of our progress.

Payment
Unlike some research organisations, we do not request full payment up front, only a 10% deposit where a budget has been set in advance; but this means that we trust you to pay us promptly once we have completed your work. You will be invoiced for the work upon delivery of your research report, or the conclusion of any services rendered by House Detectives and their associates. Online transactions are available via our Paypal account or via credit transfer into our bank account, whilst cheques are also acceptable and sent to our offices at Flat 3, 70-72 Broad Street, Teddington, Middlesex, TW11 8QY.

Payment must be received within 28 days of receipt of the invoice; a receipt can be provided on request. After this date, under our terms of trade we are entitled to levy an additional administration charge of 10% of the invoice value. If payment is still not forthcoming after a further 28 days, we reserve the right to place the outstanding sum in the hands of Sovereign Legal Services, a debt collection agency. This may result in additional administrative costs and, if necessary, court fees and interest charges.

Disclaimer for legal research
House Detectives will provide a report and copies of all relevant material as part of the research service, but the supply of such material does not equate to the researcher offering a legal opinion on the results of the search in question. In consequence House Detectives accepts no liability or consequence for any action or actions taken by the commissioning person or body as a result of the material found during the research.
